FINALLY: CDC Issues New Guidelines on COVID-19 — And There’s Good News for Americans

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued much-anticipated guidelines related to COVID-19 vaccinations, mask usage and social gatherings.

“Fully-vaccinated Americans can gather with other vaccinated people indoors without wearing a mask or social distancing, according to long-awaited guidance from federal health officials,” the AP reported.

“The recommendations also say that vaccinated people can come together in the same way with people considered at low-risk for severe disease, such as in the case of vaccinated grandparents visiting healthy children and grandchildren.”

“We know that people want to get vaccinated so they can get back to doing the things they enjoy with the people they love,” said CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, in a statement.

Whether or not one looks to the CDC for guidance, the new guidelines signal that the lockdowns will start to be relaxed. However, the CDC is continuing to caution people against large gatherings and still advises people to wear masks in public.

“The CDC is continuing to recommend that fully vaccinated people continue to wear well-fitted masks, avoid large gatherings, and physically distance themselves from others when out in public,” the AP reported. “The CDC also advised vaccinated people to get tested if they develop symptoms that could be related to COVID-19.”

The easing of coronavirus restrictions follows a vaccine rollout that began under former President Donald Trump’s Operation Warp Speed.

The rollout of vaccines that were developed and manufactured under the Trump administration, with major assistance from Operation Warp Speed, began the week Biden’s election was certified.

“The first shots were given in the American mass vaccination campaign on Monday, opening a new chapter in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more people in the United States — over 300,000 — than in any other country,” the New York Times reported on January 4th.

The news also coincides with a steep decline in recorded cases.

The COVID-19 cases and mortality rate actually began to peak on January 7th at 843,771 daily cases and then January 8th would see the very highest total at 844,742 cases. These were the days that followed current President Joe Biden’s election certification.
