Joe Biden appeared defeated after meeting with Congressional Democrats over the possibility of forcing through a federal elections takeover in a desperate bid from saving the party from the wrath of American voters in the 2022 midterm elections.
“I hope we can get this done. The honest-to- God answer is that I don’t know whether we can get this done,” he said. “Is this mic on? I guess, anyway. And, uh. I’m not sure, either. But, anyway.”
“I hope we can get this done,” he rambled on. “But I’m not sure. But one thing’s for certain, one thing for certain… like every other major civil rights bill that came along, if we miss the first time, we could come back and try it a second time.”
“We missed this time, we missed this time, and the state legislative bodies continue to change the law, not as to who can vote, but who gets to count the vote, count the vote, count the vote!” he prattled on.
“It’s about election subversion!” he declared.
Yes, yes it is. Biden actually said the quiet part out loud, like he did with the 2020 elections. Except it’s completely backwards from the way that Democrats describe it. Joe Biden had “shortcircuited,” to quote Human Events editor Jack Posobiec.
“Not just whether or not people get to vote,” he added. “Who counts the vote. That’s what this is about. That’s what makes this so different from anything else we’ve ever done.”
The statement came after Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona dramatically announced she would refuse to go along with changing Senate rules on the filibuster. It also came in the aftermath of a Supreme Court ruling dealing a serious blow to his federal vaccine mandate on large employers.
The Democratic Party wants to take over state elections in defiance of the U.S. Constitution and standardize lax election security practices around the country, even opposing strict photographic voter IDs. This is despite the preponderance of evidence they do nothing to suppress registration or turnout, is telling about the Democratic Party’s motives.
There are absolutely no laws that will “restrict” access for those who can prove they have a right to vote in U.S. elections. A major study conducted by the National Bureau of Economic Research based on ten-years of voting data in the United States from 2008-2018 found that voter ID laws “have no negative effect on registration or turnout, overall or for any group defined by race, gender, age, or party affiliation.” The study was conducted by Enrico Cantoni at the University of Bologna and Vincent Pons at Harvard Business School and was published in February 2019.
This international study has been supported by additional research on the issue. “This latest [NBER] study echoes the conclusion of others, including a landmark report by The Heritage Foundation in 2007 finding that voter ID laws don’t reduce voter turnout, including among African-Americans and Hispanics,” the Heritage Foundation noted. “These voters were just as likely to vote in states requiring photo identification as in those that don’t.” Even left-leaning Vox News conceded that voter ID laws don’t reduce election turnout.
It was until recently that every adult American citizen (who is not a felon in some states) has the right to vote. Now, Democrats want to disenfranchise American citizens by allowing non-citizens (and potentially even illegal aliens) to vote in local elections, such as in New York City.
But the most interesting thing about Biden’s rant is that “who counts the vote” are in many cases private voting machine companies who prevent the American people from getting full transparency on their elections.
Before the 2020 elections, Congressional Democrats were so worried about voting machine companies being a potential threat to the democratic process that it offered legislation that ultimately stalled.
“The House Administration Committee has already held hearings on election security issues this year and has pushed through, along party lines, the Securing America’s Federal Elections Act,” the Hill reported.
“This legislation, passed by the House in July, would authorize $600 million to assist states in enhancing their election security ahead of 2020 and includes language that would ban voting machines from being connected to the internet and being produced in foreign countries,” the bill added.
Ironically, the House Democrats’ 2021 election integrity bill listed problems with voting machines. The Brennan Center points out the House bill’s subtitle on “Promoting Accuracy, Integrity, and Security Through Voter-Verified Permanent Paper Ballot”:
[It would] require state and local officials to:
-
- conduct federal elections using “voter-verified paper ballots”— i.e. ballots that can be marked either by hand or a ballot marking device and inspected by the voter before the ballot is cast;
- give voters the opportunity to correct any errors on their paper ballot before it is cast;
- give voters the option to mark their ballots by hand;
- preserve paper ballots for recounts or audits;
- count ballots by hand for recounts and audits; and
- provide individuals with disabilities the opportunity to vote privately and independently using paper ballots;
This is one of the few sensible reforms the House Democrats have proposed among the dozens of poison pills in its federal election takeover legislation. Biden, tellingly, completely ignores these known issues with his statement.
This is not how a free country should operate. But it’s quite clear that the Democratic Party doesn’t want a free country.
Unfortunately for the Democratic Party, and fortunately for the American people, President Biden has all but conceded defeat on the legislation.
