Donald Trump Just Received a Vote to Be House Speaker

Donald Trump, 45th President of the United States, just received a vote to be Speaker of the House.

The vote was cast by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), a member of the “Never McCarthy Nineteen.”

Ironically, President Donald Trump has rallied behind Kevin McCarthy’s cause.

Trump said in a post on Truth Social: “Some really good conversations took place last night, and it’s now time for all of our GREAT Republican House Members to VOTE FOR KEVIN, CLOSE THE DEAL, TAKE THE VICTORY, & WATCH CRAZY NANCY PELOSI FLY BACK HOME TO A VERY BROKEN CALIFORNIA,THE ONLY SPEAKER IN U.S. HISTORY TO HAVE LOST THE “HOUSE” TWICE! REPUBLICANS, DO NOT TURN A GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT. IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE, YOU DESERVE IT. Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a GREAT JOB – JUST WATCH!

On Wednesday, Hannity got into a shouting match with Lauren Boebert, a member of the “Never-McCarthy Nineteen.”

“If you don’t have a name for Speaker with 30 votes, is it time for you to withdraw?” Hannity asked her.

“I will not withdraw,” she retorted.

“I feel like I’m getting an answer from a liberal,” Hannity fired back.

Gaetz was supportive of Boebert’s appearance, as he noted on a Becker News clip of the hit.

“Lauren is the best!” Gaetz tweeted.

Six times Kevin McCarthy has been denied the Speaker position in votes on the House floor this week.

As reported by Newsmax on Thursday, Congressional sources have caught wind of a deal being brokered by the influential Club for Growth.

According to the deal, ten members of the “Never McCarthy” coalition may flip their votes, but only on one condition: He does not use his influence to primary them.

“It has been suggested that the Club for Growth deal could move about 10 votes to McCarthy,” Newsmax reported. “While not enough to make McCarthy speaker, it would give him tremendous momentum.”

“Under the Club for Growth’s proposal, McCarthy would agree that his multi-million dollar political action committee, Congressional Leadership Fund, be ‘prohibited from spending money or providing grants to any super PAC to engage in open Republican primaries or against any Republican incumbent’,” the report added.

As noted by the report, McCarthy also hopes to win over other holdouts by agreeing to a rules change allowing the offering of amendments to legislation on the House floor.

Judging by Gaetz’s vote for Donald Trump, however, it appears that some Republicans won’t budge off their opposition to McCarthy.

One reason why comes in the form of a bit of backstory reported by Fox News’ Chad Pergram.

“It was very strange to me that when I went into the meeting with Leader McCarthy,” Gaetz said, per Pergram. “He apologized to me for saying things that weren’t true about our discussions.”

“I said, ‘Well, Mr. McCarthy, if you will apologize to me, will you share that apology publicly?’ And he said, ‘No. you wouldn’t.’ A real man will apologize publicly if they’ve said things that are not true publicly. And we are not getting that from Mr. McCarthy,” Gaetz continued.

“He’s a desperate guy whose vote share is dropping with every subsequent vote,” Gaetz added. “And I’m ready to vote all night, all week, all month, and never for that person.”
