Adam Kinzinger Has a New Job That’s Perfect for a ‘Never-Trump’ Ex-Congressman

“Republican”? Check. Never-Trumper? Check. Able to shed tears on command? Check.

It turns out that ex-Congressman Adam Kinzinger, a nominal “Republican” from Illinois, will be cashing in those checks at a new gig: As a Senior Political Commentator on CNN.

CNN’s PR team churned out the most-predictable-hiring-announcement-ever:

“Join us in welcoming @AdamKinzinger to CNN as a Senior Political Commentator,” the announcement read. “Welcome to CNN, Adam!”

The alleged news network touted Kinzinger’s bona fides:

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) is joining CNN as a Senior Political Commentator, the network announced today. Kinzinger joins CNN with extensive experience in GOP politics, having recently retired from the U.S. House of Representatives after serving six terms representing Illinois’ Sixteenth Congressional District. Kinzinger most recently served on the high-profile House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol as well as the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Prior to being elected to Congress, Kinzinger served in the Air Force in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Kinzinger was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in November 2003 and later awarded his pilot wings. He has served in the Air Force Special Operations, Air Combat Command, Air Mobility Command, and Air National Guard. Kinzinger continues to serve his country as a pilot in the Air National Guard, with the current rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Kinzinger is but one of the Terrible Ten who voted to impeach Donald Trump for “incitement of insurrection” on January 6, despite the former president’s repeated calls for peace both prior to and after the riot.

Rep. Liz Cheney, another Never Trumper deposed from Congress, was formerly a Fox News Contributor and fill-in host for prime-time talent such as Sean Hannity (circa 2012). She now claims aspirations to potentially run for President in 2024. (Try not to laugh).

A slew of other Republicans who voted for Donald Trump’s impeachment now find themselves outside of Congress and looking to be “rewarded” for their Trump opposition: Tom Rice lost in the primaries during his unsuccessful South Carolina re-election bid, Anthony Gonzalez bowed out of the Ohio race, Fred Upton of Michigan retired, Jaime Herrera Beutler lost her Washington primary, Peter Meijer lost to a Trump-backed candidate in the Washington primary, and John Katko of New York also retired. Two of these Republicans returned to office: David Valadao of California and Dan Newhouse of Washington.

As for these Never-Trump Republicans who now find themselves out of Washington politics, there is a simple solution: Call CNN. They’re always hiring.
