As Border Crisis Worsens, House Dems Pass Path to Citizenship for Illegal Aliens

While the border crisis worsens, the Democratic Party continues to roll out the incentives for illegal immigrants who make it into the United States. The House Democrats on Thursday passed a bill that provides a ‘pathway to citizenship’ for those illegally in the country.

“House Democrats passed legislation Thursday that would create a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, taking a piecemeal approach to immigration reform as the fate of President Biden’s comprehensive package looks increasingly uncertain,” the Hill reported.

“The Dream and Promise Act, which passed 228-197, would provide certainty to undocumented people brought to the U.S. as children whose ability to go to school, get work and even remain in the country has hung in the balance from administration to administration,” the report continued.

The Democrats are selling the bill with appeals to emotion, but such incentives are only worsening the humanitarian crisis at the border.

Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard, who is sponsoring the bill, called it “a major step in ending the veil of fear and uncertainty that has plagued the lives of our Dreamers for far too long.”

The Department of Homeland Security recently issued an emergency declaration and called on FEMA to help assist in processing illegal migrants at the border, including youths being held in detention facilities.

“The federal government is responding to the arrival of record numbers of individuals, including unaccompanied children, at the southwest border,” DHS said. “Since April 2020, the number of encounters at the border has been rising due to ongoing violence, natural disasters, food insecurity, and poverty in the Northern Triangle countries of Central America. The federal government is working around the clock to move unaccompanied children from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) care and to place them with a family member or sponsor until their immigration case is adjudicated. The risks posed by the spread of COVID-19 have made this mission all the more difficult.”

In addition, CBS reports a “staggering number of migrant children detained at a Border Patrol facility in south Texas face overcrowded conditions, with some held for as long as seven days,” according to lawyers contacted by the outlet.

One lawyer said that children were going hungry, and some only showered once in seven days.

“Some of the boys said that conditions were so overcrowded that they had to take turns sleeping on the floor,” attorney Neha Desai said regarding a migrant holding facility in Donna, Texas.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden continues to send mixed messages to those who would enter the United States illegally. On Thursday, he issued a statement during an ABC interview for the migrants not to come to the U.S.

Stephanopoulos asked the president, “Do you have to say quite clearly, ‘Don’t come’?”

“Yes, I can say quite clearly: Don’t come over,” Biden said. “Don’t leave your town or city or community,” he added.

It was reported on Wednesday that the Biden administration is simultaneously cracking down on press access to cover the federal government’s response to the border crisis.

“The Biden administration is restricting the information Border Patrol agents and sector chiefs can share with the media as a surge of migrants tests the agency’s capacity at the southern border, according to four current and two former Customs and Border Protection officials,” NBC News reported.

“The officials say the restrictions are seen as an unofficial ‘gag order’ and are often referred to that way among colleagues. The officials requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media about the topic,” the report continued.

“Border Patrol officials have been told to deny all media requests for ‘ride-alongs’ with agents along the southern land border; local press officers are instructed to send all information queries, even from local media, to the press office in Washington for approval; and those responsible for cultivating data about the number of migrants in custody have been reminded not to share the information with anyone to prevent leaks,” the officials told NBC News.

However, first-hand looks at the border crisis are getting out. Chief Border Patrol Agent Brian Hastings tweeted pictures of migrants being processed by border patrol agents.

The images really give us a better sense of what is happening, which explains why the Biden administration is trying to hide such photos from the American public.

The Biden administration is ‘signaliing’ with its policies that migrants will be rewarded if they make it to the United States.

If the Democrats pass their immigration legislation, the new rewards would not only include free healthcare, education, and other benefits costly to taxpayers, but also a pathway to U.S. citizenship.
