Biden’s About Face on COVID-19 Messaging Leaves Americans Feeling Confused and Betrayed

President Biden has promised a “wartime” effort to fight COVID-19, but he is also giving statements that conjure up the Orwellian phrase, “We’ve always been at war with Eastasia.”

Biden signed numerous executive orders and actions on his first day in office, one of them a federal mask mandate that he immediately violated himself.

He also asked Americans to wear masks for 100 days — roughly until April.

Today, he delivered a statement about the coronavirus pandemic that was cold and dark and gray. He stated “there is nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.

Nothing we can do? So, if the vaccines don’t work and masks don’t work and lockdowns don’t work… why are we even doing them?

The recent pivot in messaging struck savvy observers as exceedingly odd.

“Our darkest days in the battle against COVID are ahead of us, not behind us,” Biden said earlier. This is pretty far from the ‘hope and change’ we were promised for ‘Obama presidency: The sequel.’

The messaging only gets weirder when we consider the behavior of now-Biden-adviser/Trump holdover Dr. Fauci. Fauci recently announced we are re-joining the WHO, despite that organization’s obvious failures and suspect relations with China.

Dr. Fauci now proclaims he feels ‘liberated‘ to tell Americans the straight facts about the coronavirus, and he bashed the previous Trump administration for ‘likely‘ costing lives by casting the fight in a positive light — just like he did.

From a Newsmax interview in March:

“But this is not a major threat to the people of the United States and this is not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about.”

This is the same pandemic adviser who also previously stated the mask-wearing among the general public was useless against COVID-19.

Fauci nonetheless felt compelled to fact-check the Biden administration’s “wartime” effort to ramp up vaccine production to 100 million doses in the first 100 days. This is virtually the same plan as the Trump administration’s, which is well underway despite inexplicable bottle-necking by some blue state governors, but CNN claimed that Biden is having to ‘start from scratch.’

The Daily Wire noted:

Dr. Anthony Fauci pushed back on a report from CNN Thursday claiming Biden administration officials said they were left with no vaccine distribution plan from the Trump administration.

In response to CNN’s claims that the Biden administration would have to start from scratch on a vaccine distribution plan, Fauci told the network: “We are certainly not starting from scratch.”

“You can’t say it was absolutely not usable at all,” he added.

The original CNN tweet is still up, despite not comporting with reality. Twitter apparently doesn’t seem interested in this kind of ‘fact-checking.’

The Daily Mail did a simple math-based fact check on CNN’s claim. It doesn’t hold up.

What we are proposing is to double that to about 1 million shots per day. We have outlined this goal and objective in coordination and consultation with our health and medical experts,’ she said.

While her numbers add up, what they don’t show is that the prior administration was already on a trajectory to boost the number of shots closer to the 1 million number, with shots per day jumping over 800,000 in the last five days before the inauguration, as more vaccine came online and as states and hospitals stepped up their efforts.

If the past week’s average trajectory were maintained, total vaccination would reach just short of 97 million in the 100 days since vaccines began on December 21, which is 31 days before Biden’s 100 million target.

But the most inexplicable thing about all of this messaging is that it comes amidst a flood of suspiciously timed coronavirus news that suggests the American people have been getting played.

Even Meghan McCain of The View feels very confused and betrayed by such developments. As Virginia Kruta of The Daily Caller notes:

“Look, I think the great horror of living in America right now is the absolute, complete and total breakdown of trust in our institutions,” McCain said…

“So why does Jeff Bezos all of a sudden want to help with vaccine distribution, but he didn’t during the Trump Administration?”

McCain nonetheless continues to parrot mainstream media talking points, so she is likely to be only further disappointed in the months to come.

Americans who have been paying attention are feeling confused and betrayed by politicians and institutions that proclaimed to represent the “science,” but only appear to be pushing the politics of crisis and expediency.

There is nothing about Biden’s messaging that makes sense, unless there are ulterior political motives.
