“Have you decided whether you are going to run for re-election in 2024?” Nancy Cordes of CBS News asked. “You haven’t set up an election campaign yet as your predecessor had by this time.”
“My predecessor,” Biden said with an awkward laugh. “Needed to. My predecessor. Oh God, I miss him.”
It was not clear why Biden thought there was something funny about Donald Trump planning to run for re-election.
“The answer is yes,” he then said abruptly. “My plan is to run for re-election. That’s my expectation.”
Biden’s announcement was met with widespread amazement on Twitter.

Biden sees himself as a “two-term president,” the Hill recently reported.
“I don’t think there’s any reason to say that he won’t,” a long-time Biden adviser said when asked if he would run for re-election.
“So we all assume that he is,” another said when asked about the president running again, “contrary to this sentiment that he’ll be a one-term president because of his own volition.”
“Biden should definitely be preparing to run again,” Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons said. “It’s easier to stop the train than start it late, and a lame-duck president won’t get many things passed.”
It is unclear why some many strategists and advisers want Biden to run again for re-election. He is not even showing up on a regular basis to the presidency he has now.
This is breaking news. It will be updated as more information is forthcoming.
