Gov. DeSantis Delivers Major Rejection to Joe Biden over Florida’s National Guard Troops Ahead of State of the Union Address

President Joe Biden is projecting weakness and insecurity at home amidst a Russian invasion of Europe abroad, illegal alien invasions at home, and a Covid pandemic that is fading from the headlines due to the Democrats’ track record of failure.

Amid pervasive uncertainty facing the United States and shattered paradigms of international security, Biden fled from the capital this weekend to sojourn in his familiar haunts in Delaware, only to return to shun questioning as he walked awkwardly upon the White House lawn wearing an N95 mask.

In an attempt to mask the insecurity of the Biden White House, Washington D.C. has gone into full lockdown theatrics ahead of the president’s State of the Union address on Tuesday.

But Florida Governor Ron DeSantis wants no part of it. On Monday, the governor issued a rebuke to the Democrats’ militarization of the nation’s capital to shore up Biden’s weak optics.

“Last week, the Biden Administration requested the assistance of State National Guards to deploy to Washington D.C. I have rejected this request — there will be no @FLGuard sent to D.C. for Biden’s State of the Union,” DeSantis said.

Governor DeSantis had caused a media stir in December when he announced the re-establishment of the Florida State Guard. The motto of the Florida State Guard: “Let Us Alone.”

On Wednesday, the Pentagon had authorized 700 unarmed D.C. National Guard troops ahead of the State of the Union address. The Department of Defense’s move came amidst reports of a truckers’ convoy heading to the nation’s capital. However, there are “no specific or credible threats” related to President Joe Biden’s speech.

The Capitol Police in mid-February had announced its plans for “extra security,” including the potential of erecting fencing around the Capitol Building once again.

“Law enforcement agencies across the National Capital Region are aware of plans for a series of truck convoys arriving in Washington, DC around the time of the State of the Union,” the Capitol Police said in a statement.

“As with any demonstration, the USCP will facilitate lawful First Amendment activity,” the Capitol Police added.

But that facilitation of First Amendment activity now includes a militarized makeover of the nation’s capitol. Senator Ted Cruz provided a brief video tour of the fencing on Monday.

“Pelosi’s Kabuki theater: the fence that’s simply a Hollywood backdrop for Biden’s SOTU speech,” Cruz said.

This has become a familiar playbook for a Biden administration: There is only theater, because there are no real-world positive results.
