President Joe Biden is off to a roaring start. No press briefing after 47 days in office. No State of the Union Address. But plenty of awkward remarks, carrying on a pattern going back to the late stages of his campaign.
Here are six of the most ‘awkward’ recent moments from now President Biden.
On Monday, Joe Biden forgot the name of his Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and the name of the Pentagon while announcing that two females will be made four-star generals.
“I just want to thank you both, and I want to thank the Sec — the, the, uh, former general, I keep calling him general — my, my, uh, the guy who runs that outfit over there. Uh, uh, I want to make sure we thank the Secretary for all he’s done…”
This is the Commander-in-Chief, folks. No wonder Nancy wants to take away his nuclear football.

Speaking of “Nance,” Biden asked permission to take questions after a virtual conference shortly before the White House feed was cut.
“I’m happy to take questions if that’s what I’m supposed to do, Nance,” he said. “Whatever you want me to do.”
Then the White House logo appears, and just like that, *poof,* the president was gone.
One of the most stunningly awkward statements came when Biden finally got around to visiting Houston after the Texas freeze disaster.
“Representatives, uh, Shirley Jackson Lee, Al Green, Sylvia Garcia, Lizzie Panneli, uh, excuse me,” Biden said and winced. “Pannell, and uh, what am I doing here?” he said.
This had come within days of Biden authorizing airstrikes on Syria. Chilling.

Biden’s brain appeared to seize up as he attempted to make a statement on COVID-19.
“The only way to spare more pain and more loss, the only way… *extremely awkward pause*… these millstones no longer mark our national mourning—these milestones, I should say—no… no longer moke…m-m-m-mark our national mourning.”
Joe Biden says we need “environmental justice so we can turn the faucet on and drink water or breathe clean air.”

In the final stages of his campaign run, Biden began the pattern of long stares and incomprehensible statements.
“Environmental justice so we can turn a faucet on and drink … water. Breathe clean air… *very long pause*… I’m sorry. I’m about to end, but lil … lil ya know… we have to live so… I mean we have to just give people a chance!”
81 million people apparently did, if you believe the election numbers were accurate.

Biden has been fond of the ‘environmental justice’ narrative, though it obviously bugs some.
“The brunt falls disproportionately on communities of color, exacerbating the need for environmental, environmental justice — sorry, that’s a bug — speaking of the environment.”
It’s hard to tell if that one is all Biden’s fault. It could partially just be the absurd argument.
If President Biden continues along this path, he will undoubtedly have the most ridiculous presidency in U.S. history — if he hasn’t achieved that already.
