White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was nearly six hours late to face the American people on Thursday after multiple horrific attacks at Kabul airport left at least 12 U.S. service members dead.
A number of U.S. senators have already called on President Biden to resign or face impeachment. U.S. representatives have joined them and one even filed Articles of Impeachment.
When faced with reports that the Congressmen are demanding that the failed Commander-in-Chief resign for his dereliction of duty, Jen Psaki protested that the reporter was making things political.
This is a breathtaking display of hubris for a Biden administration that makes virtually everything political. Watch:
“Two Republican senators so far have called on the president to resign over the attacks in Afghanistan today,” the reporter said. “What is the White House’s response to that?”
“I would say first this is a day where U.S. service members, 12 of them, lost their lives at the hands of terrorists,” Psaki responded.
“It is not a day for politics,” she added. “And we would expect that any American, whether they are elected or not, would stand with us in our commitment to going after and fighting and killing those terrorists wherever they live and honoring the memory of service members. That is what this day is for.”
It is not the White House Press Secretary’s job to tell us what this ‘day is for.’ And it is not the job of the White House to lecture us about ‘honoring the memory’ of U.S. troops, when the matter is about preventing them from becoming a ‘memory’ to begin with.
During the president’s remarks, he made a number of statements that don’t comport with the situation in Afghanistan.
“We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay,” Biden said.
But what the Biden administration fails to grasp is there are American troops in harm’s way now. There are Americans who need to be evacuated now. There is retaliation that needs to be carried out now.
This is not about forgiveness. It is not about responding at ‘the time and place of our choosing.” It is about taking action now.
And the very next action that needs to be taken is for the President of the United States to resign. He needs to do it for the good of the country and for the safety and security of the American people.
