One Day After Trump Endorses Liz Cheney’s Replacement, Twitter Bans His Pick’s Communications Director

It didn’t take long for Big Tech giants to prove once again that election interference doesn’t just have to happen during elections.

One day after Donald Trump endorsed his preferred replacement for Rep. Liz Cheney in a House leadership position, Twitter bans that congresswoman’s communications director.

That congresswoman? Elise Stefanik. She explained what happened on Twitter.

“BIG TECH on the MOVE!” Stefanik said. “Twitter just suspended my Communications Director. An unconstitutional overreach SILENCING our voices and freedom of speech. Republicans are united in fighting back against Big Tech’s tyranny. Millions of Americans will not be silenced!”

A CNN correspondent attempted to put the toothpaste back in the tube by forwarding along a Twitter press release on the suspension.

“Twitter spokesperson says [Karoline Leavitt] was suspended in ‘error.’ Adds, ‘This has been reversed, and the account has been reinstated. The account’s followers will take 24-48 hours to fully restore’.”

Stefanik wasn’t having it.

“Why does this ONLY happen to conservatives?!” she replied. “Absolutely outrageous. Because Big Tech is corrupt. That’s why.”

The Twitter suspension is a bit surprising because Trump supporters argue that Stefanik is not particularly conservative, despite being preferred by many to Liz Cheney. Nonetheless, the suspension may serve as a wake-up call to squishy RINOs that it is open season on Big Tech as much for them as much as it is those ‘icky Trumpers.’

On Wednesday, Donald Trump made a public endorsement to replace the Number 3 ranking Republican in the House Rep. Liz Cheney with Rep. Elise Stefanik. He issued a statement.

“Liz Cheney is a warmongering fool who has no business in Republican Party Leadership,” Trump said. “We want leaders who believe in the Make America Great Again movement, and prioritize the values of America First. Elise Stefanik is a far superior choice, and she has my COMPLETE and TOTAL endorsement for GOP Conference Chair. Elise is a tough and smart communicator!”

Elise Stefanik responded on Twitter with her acceptance of the endorsememt.

Minority Whip Steve Scalise concurred with Trump’s pick to replace Cheney with Stefanik.

“Rep. Steve Scalise, the House GOP whip, also is backing Stefanik for Cheney’s post, said Scalise spokesperson Lauren Fine,” the AP reported. “The Louisiana Republican’s was the first explicit call from House GOP leadership to oust Cheney from her leadership job.”

“Republicans must focus on gaining House control in the 2022 elections ‘and fighting against Speaker Pelosi and President Biden’s radical socialist agenda, and Elise Stefanik is strongly committed to doing that,’ the AP reported, citing the statement from Fine. “Scalise’s backing was first reported by Punchbowl, a political news organization,” the report added.

It seems like Liz Cheney’s days as a leader in the House are numbered. Just like the days of Republicans on social media are numbered if they don’t begin to seriously fight back against Big Tech censorship.
