President Biden Threatens to Throw Supply Chain Crisis Into Further Chaos with Another Federal Vaccine Mandate

President Biden has once again lied about not issuing federal vaccine mandates and threatens to throw the U.S. supply chain into further crisis by requiring that “essential, nonresident travelers crossing U.S. land borders, such as truck drivers, government and emergency response officials” be “fully vaccinated” for Covid-19 by January 22.

“A senior administration official said the requirement, which the White House previewed in October, brings the rules for essential travelers in line with those that took effect earlier this month for leisure travelers, when the U.S. reopened its borders to fully vaccinated individuals,” the Associated Press reported.

“Essential travelers entering by ferry will also be required to be fully vaccinated by the same date, the official said,” the report added. “The official spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity to preview the announcement.”

“The rules pertain to non-U.S. nationals,” the AP points out. “American citizens and permanent residents may still enter the U.S. regardless of their vaccination status, but face additional testing hurdles because officials believe they more easily contract and spread COVID-19 and in order to encourage them to get a shot.”

In September, Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), introduced legislation that would bar the Biden administration from implementing vaccine passports requirements for interstate travel, the Epoch Times reported.

The Prevent Unconstitutional Vaccine Mandates for Interstate Commerce Act, would “prohibit several federal agencies involved in interstate commerce and travel from requiring proof of vaccination: The Department of Transportation, which oversees the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak), the Surface Transportation Board, the Transportation Security Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, the Federal Maritime Commission, and the Department of Commerce,” according to the report.

“The federal government has no business imposing vaccine mandates on our people and our hardworking businesses,” Sen. Rick Scott remarked.

“The Supreme Court has already ruled that you cannot be forced to purchase insurance under the commerce clause. Why would president Biden think he could do so with a vaccine mandate?” he asked.

“Travel is critical to getting our economy fully reopened. America’s truckers, shippers, pilots, and delivery men and women play an important role in delivering the goods needed to keep our economy going,” he continued.

“Americans are sick and tired of the government telling them what to do. And the American people are more than capable of making the right decision to protect them, their family, and their neighbors,” he added.

However, the Biden administration has a track record of escalating Covid-19 policy responses, even when rebuked by federal courts that they are “unconstitutional.”

“I don’t think it should be mandatory. I wouldn’t demand it to be mandatory,” Biden said at a news conference in Wilmington, Del. “Just like I don’t think masks have to be made mandatory nationwide.”

“I’ll do everything in my power as president of the United States to encourage people to do the right thing and when they do it, demonstrate that it matters,” he said.

On July 25, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said a vaccine mandate was “not the federal government’s role.” In May, Psaki effectively said the same thing, as well.

“The government is not now nor will we be supporting a system that requires Americans to carry a credential,” Psaki said at the time.

“There will be no federal vaccinations database and no federal mandate requiring everyone to obtain a single vaccination credential,” the press secretary added.

Also in July, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky also said there would be “no federal mandate.”

“To clarify: There will be no nationwide mandate. I was referring to mandates by private institutions and portions of the federal government,” Walensky wrote in a Twitter post. “There will be no federal mandate.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci himself also said in 2020 that federal vaccine mandates would be “encroaching upon a person’s freedom.”

The United States is in the middle of a supply chain crisis and there are reports of cargo shipments unable to reach port, as well as cargo containers stacking up in shipyards with a shortage of truckers to deliver them.

Biden’s newest federal vaccine mandate will only aggravate the supply chain crisis further, which will increase inflationary pressures on the U.S. economy.
