Steve Bannon Turns Himself In to New York Prosecutors, Faces New Charges

Steve Bannon is turning himself in to New York prosecutors to face new charges stemming from his fundraising efforts to build the wall between the United States and Mexico, despite having received a pardon from former President Donald Trump. NBC News reported this morning:

Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon arrived in court in New York on Thursday to face fresh charges related to a charity that was supposed to use private funds to build the U.S.-Mexico border wall…. Bannon was hit with charges related to the same scheme by federal prosecutors in August 2020. He pleaded not guilty and was later pardoned by then-President Donald Trump.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James are slated to hold a news conference this afternoon to announce the new charges. Bannon, who has been defiant in the face of prosecutors and subpoenaes in the past, appears likely to plead not guilty.

The charges that face Steve Bannon, currently the host of the popular “WarRoom” podcast, are currently sealed. Bannon, however, has issued a statement on the fresh charges.

“Just days after being swatted three different times by deranged thugs from New York City inspired by the Biden Administration to assassinate me by police, the Soros-backed DA has now decided to pursue phony charges against me 60 days before the midterm election because WarRoom is the major source of the MAGA movement,” Bannon said.

“The SDNY did the exact same thing in August 2020 to try to take me out of the election,” he continued. “It didn’t work then, it certainly won’t work now. This is nothing more than a partisan political weaponization of the criminal justice system.”

“I am proud to be a leading voice on protecting our borders and building a wall to keep our country safe from drugs and violent criminals,” he added. “The WarRoom show will be more vital, more intense, more urgent, and bigger this time.”

“They are coming after all of us, not only President Trump and myself,” Bannon said. “I am never going to stop fighting. In fact, I have not yet begun to fight. They will have to kill me first.”
