‘Surprised’ DHS Secretary Finds Twenty Percent of Illegal Aliens are Covid Disease Spreaders

It’s hard to understand how a DHS Secretary for a Biden administration that fearmongers daily about the Covid pandemic is ‘surprised’ there has been a surge in Delta variant cases among the illegal migrant population.

Yet that is precisely what the Department of Homeland Security’s chief admitted to recently, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

“What I didn’t expect was the tragic rise of the delta variant,” DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said during a Monday speech at the Migration Policy Institute in Washington. “I did not expect to be in late September where we are.”

“We are confronted with a population of people that, as a general matter, that have a rate of illness of approximately 20%,” said Mayorkas. “When one is speaking of 7,000 or 7,500 people encountered at the border every day, if one takes a look at that the system, it is not built for that in a COVID environment where isolation is required.”

The Delta variant, a highly contagious strain of Sars-CoV-2 that has spread like wildfire throughout communities, is weaker and tends to be of more severe risk to elderly and immunocompromised populations, which explains why the outbreak hasn’t led to MASH-sized field hospitals to treat the infected migrants.

The border crisis has been fueled by an abrupt change in immigration policy from the Trump administration. August has seen then worst month in more than two decades for illegal border crossing, with more than 200,000 people attempting to enter the U.S. from Mexico.

The White House has stubbornly defended not conducting routine testing on these illegal migrants, despite issuing unconstitutional federal mandates requiring millions of American citizens to be vaccinated for Covid as a condition of employment.

“During Monday’s daily press briefing, Psaki was pressed on why there are so many steps pertaining to COVID-19 when flying into the country, such as providing vaccination proof or a negative COVID-19 test, but seemingly none for those who walk across the border,” the New York Post reported.

“As individuals come across the border, and they are both assessed for whether they have any symptoms, if they have symptoms they are,” Psaki said.

“The intention is for them to be quarantined. That is our process, they’re not intending to stay here for a lengthy period of time, I don’t think it’s the same thing. It’s not the same thing.”

“We are expelling individuals based on Title 42 specifically because of COVID because we want to prevent a scenario where large numbers of people are gathering posing a threat to the community and also to the migrants themselves,” she added.

As was recently seen with a massive encampment of nearly 15,000 illegal migrants near the Rio Grande river, a flood of immigrants into the United States not only created a humanitarian crisis, but posed a significant health risk.

Fox News’ Bill Melugin reported extensively on the camp conditions, before the migrants were suddenly dispersed by the Biden administration. There were reports of trash piles, human waste, and migrants openly washing naked in the Rio Grande river with young children. There were some porta-potties provided to the migrants, but the camp’s conditions were shockingly unsanitary. They were described on Fox News as “Third World conditions” that were strikingly out-of-place for the United States.

Thousands of the migrants, most of them from Haiti, were reportedly rounded up by the Biden administration and relocated to detainment camps for processing. They allegedly will be flown back to their countries of origin.

However, as we have seen with numerous reports in the past, the Biden administration has been providing illegal migrants with hotel accommodations, as well as ‘free’ busing and flights around the United States, particularly to red states.
