WATCH: Kamala Harris Boasts About the “Successful Drawdown” in Afghanistan on Her Foreign Trip

Kamala Harris escaped the country amidst one of the biggest foreign policy crises in U.S. history. But her fresh statements while abroad are drawing ridicule at home for their complete disconnection from reality.

While in Singapore, Vice President Harris attempted to put a rosy spin on the debacle by boasting about the “successful drawdown” of the U.S. embassy in Kabul. Watch:

“On the issue of Afghanistan, and to that end, we have seen a successful drawdown of the embassy,” Harris claimed.

The evacuation of the U.S. embassy was one of the iconic images that came down in the early stages of Kabul falling to the Taliban. Even while Harris is set to visit Vietnam after her trip to Singapore, the backdrop of the evacuation of U.S. diplomats from Kabul has drawn comparisons to the fall of Saigon.

Kamala Harris earlier had a two-faced reaction to meeting the press moments before departing to Singapore for her official tour of southeast Asia on Saturday night.

As she approached the press, the Vice President’s demeanor morphed before she addressed reporters on the dire situation in Afghanistan.

“What are your reports on Americans…?” a reporter shouted over the engine noise.

“Hold on, hold on,” Kamala Harris brushed her off with a cocksure smile. “Hold on everybody,” she said and laughed.

“I want to talk about two things,” she said. “First, Afghanistan.”

“We couldn’t have a higher priority right now,” she said in a sobering tone. “In particular, our priority is making sure that we safely evacuate American citizens. Afghans who worked with us. Afghans at-risk, including women and children. And that is one of our highest, if not our highest priority right now.”

The vice president cheerfully laughing before talking about Afghanistan being one of its ‘highest priorities’ on the way to tour southeast Asia, including Singapore and Vietnam, belies that the Biden administration doesn’t grasp how deadly serious the matter is for millions of Americans.

On Saturday, former President Donald Trump pointed out that the image of the helicopters taking off from the roof of the embassy carrying diplomats had been one of the most humiliating in decades; that is, until horrific images came out from the Kabul airport.

“The scene of those big, giant planes taking off with people hanging on the sides and falling off. There will never be anything like that. That’s worse than the helicopters. You remember the helicopters taking off the roofs? This blows that away. Not even a contest.”

“This will go down as one of the great military defeats of all-time,” he went on. “It did not have to happen that way.”

“This was not a withdrawal,” Trump said. “This was a total surrender.”

But in Kamala Harris’s world, there was a “successful drawdown.” This is what you get out of people who climb the political ladder by ‘failing up.’
